Christian Discipleship

We have a number of different Christian Discipleship programs at Westminster. Please take a moment and see which program is right for both you and your family.

Nursery
Our Infant and Toddler nurseries are available for all children up to 4 years of age.  The nurseries are located at the bottom of the stairwell exiting the Narthex.

Children’s Church
Children’s Church meets during the
11:00am worship service.  Our children, ages 4 – 3rd grade, are invited to leave the sanctuary after Children’s Time to go to the chapel.  There, the children will hear Bible Stories, sing songs, and make Bible related crafts.

FOCUS  -  Families of Christ United in the Spirit
FOCUS(Families Of Christ United in the Spirit) is an intergenerational program of dinner, Bible-based study and activities for all ages (Preschool through adults). Each Wednesday from September to May, we will enjoy dinner together as families, couples and/or singles. Parents will be responsible for dinnertime with their children. Dinner will be served buffet style from 5:15 P.M. until 5:45 P.M. There will be a salad bar and complete meals served every week. We will have announcements at 5:50 P.M. and begin classes at 6:00 P.M. All programs will conclude by 7:00 P.M. Please call the church office at 942-1145 for information

Adult Sunday School

Facilitators: Hugh Robertshaw

Location and Time: Upstairs education wing, 9:45am Sunday mornings

Adult Bible Study Class uses the International Sunday School Lessons.  In the Fall, we will be exploring the communities of the New Testament and, through discussion, relate our Bible study to current cultural topics.

The Forum

Facilitator: John McNair

Location and Time: Upstairs education wing, 9:45 Sunday mornings

The Forum Sunday School Class seeks to relate our faith to our daily lives through open unstructured discussion. We continually ask ourselves, “What would Christ say or do?” as we discuss personal, local, national, and international problems, as well as problems brought up by class members. There is a strong sense of camaraderie and fellowship among the members.

Kerygma Sunday School Class

Facilitator:  Ken Pillar and Susan Lancaster

Location and Time: Upstairs education wing, 9:30 a.m.

We are studying “The Light Will Shine,” – a study of advent and the final advent.  Christmas has become a time of decorating, gift giving, and eating and it goes without saying that many people are confused about the meaning and significance of Christmas, why it is celebrated in December, how it developed in the church, what God tells us about Christmas and its importance, how does peace come, why Jesus came, what his coming accomplished.

Discussion Sunday School Class

Facilitator: Kathy Baker

A popular book with a faith-based message is chosen for class discussion. The members read the chapters and come prepared to discuss the material. The facilitator guides the discussion with questions and comments, but the members’ discussion creates the learning. Previous materials include: Rick Warren’s Purpose-Driven Church, John Ortberg’s If You Want To Walk on the Water, You Have To Get Out of the Boat, and most recently, Phillip Yancey’s What’s So Amazing About Grace. The members decide on the next book to be read about six weeks before ending the current material. Westminster provides the literature for the class.

The Christian Discipleship Ministry has several special events coming up throughout the year.  Check your bulletin and newsletter for more information.
